The SustainCoffee project aims to enhance the role of coffee industry associations and enterprises in promoting the adoption of internationally recognized Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, contributing to sustainable development and environmental protection.

Background

The coffee sector plays a vital role in Vietnam’s economy, generating approximately USD 4 billion in export revenue annually and providing livelihoods for more than 1.4 million smallholder farming households. However, the sector faces growing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges, particularly in light of stricter international regulations such as EUDR and CSDDD.
This project aims to strengthen ESG capacity among coffee industry associations and enterprises, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), through training, self-assessment tools, support for developing ESG action plans, and the promotion of multi-stakeholder policy dialogue. Ultimately, the project seeks to foster sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam’s coffee sector in global markets.

Objective of SustainCoffee
